KING ABDULAZIZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INAUGURATION

In September 2019, the inauguration of the new King Abdulaziz International Airport - one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the Kingdom - was a grand event attended by the Saudi royal family.

Aside from creating and directing the content for the event and royal tour preceding the inauguration, personal responsibilities included finding creative solutions in the face of stringent security airport protocols.

The result was a unique event that featured a purpose-built three-sided screen that surrounded and immersed the audience with specially crafted content, culminating in a cockpit-POV take-off in to the skies when the trigger was activated.

Inspired by casual conversations with airport staff, I proposed the creation of a short film that would highlight the stunning architecture of the airport using archive footage. The client eagerly bought into the concept, and I quickly wrote and recorded a VO script and edited together the film, which earned a last-minute place in the event.
